Julia began selling candy in 1983. Later, she explored other markets by selling from door to door.

“I began by selling candy from a basket at school; now my business has grown thanks to Compartamos.” Julia remarks.

Julia used her first credit from Compartamos Banco to purchase toys, tables and panels to provide more variety and a broader image to her business.

In order to maintain her income during the year she decided to cultivate mushrooms and nopales. She now exports wild mushrooms to an Italian restaurant chain.

Her family is very proud: “No matter what the circumstances are we have to try hard. My mother is a wonderful person who got us ahead in life. She has been both a mother and a father to me”, says her daughter.
